Foundation of the company
Founder Christoph Schweizer’s eye for market opportunities and his openness for enamel innovation from France and Switzerland generate major impulses in the first decades of growth.

Production of clock faces for the watch industry
With a ‘Kraez’ on their backs, two men regularly travel from Schramberg to the customers in the district.

Order of Merit, Vienna
SCHWEIZER receives its first international award at the World Exposition in Vienna in 1873.

Three additional factory buildings
Three additional factory buildings and an own enamel melting facility are built between 1877 and 1893 in order to meet rising market demands.

Medal of Merits, Chicago
SCHWEIZER receives its second international award, the Medal of Merits at the World Exposition in Chicago.

50th Anniversary
Looking back at a successful and rapidly developing business, SCHWEIZER celebrates its 50th anniversary in 1899 and starts the new century with new ideas: In 1902 the company installs its first own water treatment plant. Only a year later, SCHWEIZER registers as ‘LTD’ (GmbH)

New Products
The period between 1903 and 1916 sees a continuous enlargement of SCHWEIZER’s production program with technical plates such as water meters, telephones, scales, and measuring instruments as well as enamel faces for pocket watches.

100th Anniversary
In 1936 an additional etching plant for nameplates is established, while the enamel plant is enlarged and the company registered as ‘Ltd. Partnership’.
In 1949, four years after the end of World War II, SCHWEIZER celebrates its 100th anniversary.

Starting with Electronics
In 1958 the starting signals fall for PCB production, which runs parallel to enamel (until 1973) and name-plate production (until 1980) for the first two decades.

New factory for nameplates
In 1967 a new factory is inaugurated in Dunningen, Germany.

New PCB Electronics Factory
1979, the year of the 130th anniversary, sees the opening of SCHWEIZER’s new facility in Germany.

Start in Singapore
The first joint venture with a foreign company is founded as Pentex-Schweizer Circuits in Singapore in the year 1982.
1982
First IPO
In 1989 SCHWEIZER celebrates its 140th anniversary and becomes a stock listed company in Stuttgart and Frankfurt, Germany.

Second IPO
In 1990: Pentex– Schweizer Circuits Pte Ltd was listed on the Stock Exchange of Singapore and henceforth known as Pentex– Schweizer Circuits Ltd. PentexCirucitsPteLtd became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pentex– Schweizer Circuits Ltd.

Acquisition in Singapore
In 1997 Pentex-Schweizer acquires Singapore plant of its competitor Degussa Electronics.

In 1998 Pentex-Schweizer attained the Singapore Environmental Achievement Award and got qualified according to QS 9000

In 1999 Pentex-Schweizer was admitted to the Singapore Quality Class.

In 2001 Schweizer family invests in business aviation operator Industrieflug IPS, Germany.

In December 2001 Pentex-Schweizer new Wuxi, Chinaplant starts operation.

In 2002 Schweizer Aviation is established in Germany.

Aircraft Management
In 2004 Schweizer family starts ProAir Management & Sales as an aircraft management company together with www.ProAir.de founders Elmar Monreal and Thomas Godau.

June 1st, 2005 a fire at SCHWEIZER ELECTRONIC, Germany destroys large parts of the production.

Partnership with Meiko Electronics
While being committed to Germany as a location for innovative technologies, global partnerships become more and more important to strengthen sustainable growth. The second decade of the new millennium is marked by new partnerships such as with JASDAQ listed MEIKO ELECTRONICS, Japan for the production of high Volumes in 2009.

Turnaround of the Year Award
The company was consequently restructured based on an adjusted strategy, after a fire in 2005 burnt down a big part of the production areas and the economic crises. The award is granted by the auditing company BDO and the business magazine ‚impulse’ and honors the performance of German companies whose management and staff succeeded in maintaining company and jobs despite a difficult economic situation.

Start in Vietnam
2013 Schweizer Electronic Singapore Pte. Ltd., a member of the Schweizer Group, and Meiko Elec. Hong Kong Co. Ltd., a member of Meiko Electronics Co., Ltd., found a Joint Venture Meiko Schweizer Electronics for the purpose of producing Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Partnership with WUS
In order to keep pace with continuously rising demands for sensors to enable autonomous driving, SCHWEIZER partners up with the Chinese company WUS in 2014, the year of SCHWEIZER’s 165thanniversary. The company now counts more than 750 employees in Germany and has access to about 20,000 people in its global network.

Partnership with Infineon
Approaching the end of its 165thanniversary, in 2014 SCHWEIZER attracts another investor: Infineon Technologies AG invests into SCHWEIZER to jointly tap the chip embedding market for high power applications revolutionizes the automotive industry.

Incorporation of SCHWEIZER WORLD GROUP as Portfolio Management Company, Family Office, and Schweizer’s international Corporate Venture Capital and Private Equity arm.

Partnership with Enterprise Singapore
Another milestone of the success story has been achieved with the appointment as a co-investment partner for deep tech in the sector of advanced manufacturing and engineering. Besides co-investing, SCHWEIZER will provide hands-on assistance to help the start-ups fast-track their commercialization process through mentorship and connections to its manufacturing networks.
