50th Anniversary
Looking back at a successful and rapidly developing business, SCHWEIZER celebrates its 50th anniversary in 1899 and starts the new century with new ideas: In 1902 the company installs its first own water treatment plant. Only a year later, SCHWEIZER registers as ‘LTD’ (GmbH)

The period between 1903 and 1916 sees a continuous enlargement of SCHWEIZER’s production program with technical plates such as water meters, telephones, scales, and measuring instruments as well as enamel faces for pocket watches.

100th Anniversary
In 1936 an additional etching plant for nameplates is established, while the enamel plant is enlarged and the company registered as ‘Ltd. Partnership’. In 1949, four years after the end of World War II, SCHWEIZER celebrates its 100th anniversary.

In 1958 the starting signals fall for PCB production, which runs parallel to enamel (until 1973) and name-plate production (until 1980) for the first two decades.

The first joint venture with a foreign company is founded as Pentex-Schweizer Circuits in Singapore in the year 1982.

In 1989 SCHWEIZER celebrates its 140th anniversary and becomes a stock listed company in Stuttgart and Frankfurt, Germany.

While being committed to Germany as a location for innovative technologies, global partnerships become more and more important to strengthen sustainable growth. The second decade of the new millennium is marked by new partnerships such as with JASDAQ listed MEIKO ELECTRONICS, Japan for the production of high Volumes in 2009.

Turnaround of the Year Award
The company was consequently restructured based on an adjusted strategy, after a fire in 2005 burnt down a big part of the production areas and the economic crises. The award is granted by the auditing company BDO and the business magazine ‚impulse’ and honors the performance of German companies whose management and staff succeeded in maintaining company and jobs despite a difficult economic situation.

2013 Schweizer Electronic Singapore Pte. Ltd., a member of the Schweizer Group, and Meiko Elec. Hong Kong Co. Ltd., a member of Meiko Electronics Co., Ltd., found a Joint Venture Meiko Schweizer Electronics for the purpose of producing Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) in Hanoi, Vietnam.

In order to keep pace with continuously rising demands for sensors to enable autonomous driving, SCHWEIZER partners up with the Chinese company WUS in 2014, the year of SCHWEIZER’s 165thanniversary. The company now counts more than 750 employees in Germany and has access to about 20,000 people in its global network.
