Will new work norms such as the rise of hybrid working and work-from-home help improve gender equality at the workplace?

Long-term progress towards more gender equality is likely to stem primarily from changes in expectations and social norms, while Covid-19 has served as an accelerant.
Firstly: Businesses become more aware of childcare requirements and respond by quickly adopting more flexible work schedules and remote/ hybrid work options. These changes are likely to persist while both partners alike will gain flexibility in combining career and family.
Secondly, additional childcare (and homeschooling) requirements also had a positive impact. Role models in some families have been reversed. Nevertheless, statistics show that more women have fulfilled these demands. I believe any couple shall decide between themselves how to run the family. Businesses and communities can provide the framework.
