As a business leader and employer, how would you approach retrenchment? How can unions and companies work together to ensure affected workers are treated fairly and with dignity?

Work time reduction and a four day work week for all employees is our approach to long term or even permanent demand fall that some portfolio companies are facing.
As working time reduction has to come with salary reduction, sufficient lead time is imperative for a buy-in. Comand-and control is a nogo, while over-communication is very important.
I believe we can secure employee and union consent by communicating transparently and openly the genuine need. Moreover, the proposals must clearly be posited as measures to avoid extensive retrenchment.
